You wake up in the morning. You have a cup of coffee just you and your wife. You make a few sales calls and no one has the time to speak with you. You throw a party and only about half of the invites show up. You feel like the entire world has excluded you from their friends list. However, let someone kill you! Your wife comes home and sees you dead on the floor. She calls 911 and immediately the news team and the entire police force are combing the area taking prints. The local news is giving you prime time coverage. They are asking for anyone who knows anything about your demise, to please come forward for a large reward!
Can someone explain to me just what is it that made you so important all of a sudden? Suppose you had lost your job and was down on your luck. I'm certain that not one of those entities would give you a dime. Now, they are prepared to spend a million dollars in resources to give you justice and bring your killer to jail. So I guess you finally made it to the big time. You have finally become important to society!
It is disgusting how we have set up our judicial system. I thought long and hard on the matter and sadly came to the conclusion that criminal activity is a valuable money maker for those on the payroll in the system. So there you go - money will buy your friends. Moreso when you are dead but non the less!
So after tens of thousands of dollars spent on , investigators and resources, the system apprehends your killer. They put him in jail. They know he is the absolute perpetrator because they have him on camera, lifted prints, found DNA evidence linking him to the crime against you, and he confessed. It's a slam dunk case. The judicial system and all of your newfound friends have just began profiting from your demise which is the real reasoning for such attention. They are going to be paid by your surviving acquaintances, the tax payers, from here on out. Sometimes they take as long as 10 years to get a jury together and gather the witnesses. They were at your home within minutes because they were so interested in the injustice that befell you. Now it takes them years just to get 12 people together to hear the facts of your murder to vote on the matter. I never could understand that. My mom would catch me doing something wrong and I received a fair sentence within the hour. Maybe Mom's should become the justice system! Anyhow, after the trial, and the jury decided that your accused is guilty, the system puts him in jail and lets just say he gets the death sentence. The system milks your surviving acquaintances, the tax payers, for another 10 years or so. God will probably take him before the system does! That does not even take into account the fact that your killer immediately called foul on the trial and is getting an appeal. No kidding Sherlock, did you remotely think your killer would agree with the verdict in the first place. But that brings in more money that is taken from your friends, the tax payers.
I actually have a friend that owns and Island. Let us say he invited a group of nice people to live there with him. Someone on the island goes bad. What does he do. Get them off the island. I am sure. He commits the crime today, tomorrow the island community gives him a fair hearing on the matter. The next day he is off the island and we can now ask someone on the waiting list to join our happy family. It should be as simple as that, except for one thing. This is no profit for a judicial system that way! Now do you understand?
I came upon the awful scene of a man that had been shot and killed a few years ago. It was a store robbery and I was about the first one there. The family run store was in hysterics. A man's brother was dead on the floor, another boys uncle was that same man, etc. The horror was unbelievable and I think about it often. I read about it in the news the next day. To everyone else it was just another article, but not to me. It was real, because I was there. I was sickened for a long time and wanted to change everything in the system that does not work. This I can bet on, if the community could have been there, the people would change things because the reality of it is just too horrible. To this day the perpetrator is still alive and the system is playing it's game with him. Justice is not the issue, the money they make on the matter is. Think of it this way. What a business! A man of no means can shoot another man. That act alone just created a million dollars of income for the system. To add further insult they insist on you an I footing the bill! All you really have to do is find the accused today, give them a fair trial tomorrow, then remove them next week. Problem solved! Except there is still the problem of the cost of incarceration that is still on innocent societies ticket.
Maybe someone should change things. It is unbelievable how the general occupants on an island all have the same set of values and solutions, but the handful of lawmakers govern the vast populous. What we have is monarchy with a handful of Dictators. Instead of one person forcing his hand on us, we have a hand full of them doing so. The results are still the same. We are having to live with what really is not our thoughts, values and desires as to how our society needs to be run. You know, By The People, For The People. I read that statement in a document somewhere. Plato considered Democracy no different from mob rule, and the worst form of government possible. He lived when the famous Democracy of Athens was utterly dictatorial and had contempt for Athenian law and tradition. A teacher said to me that he wondered how long democracy could last in our country. Athens had the longest but interrupted democracy, Australia has the longest ongoing one. But for us, I believe I have discovered the answer. It seems to be lasting about 200 years or so. Because it is sadly falling apart! You just have to wonder Why!
